Safari 27.2 shipped October 26. No headline-hogging feature: this release polishes. Customizable select gets its second pass, a Grid Lanes property is renamed, and twenty bug fixes spread across accessibility, media, CSS, and more.

The select work

  • A new field-content pseudo-element styles the text of the selected option directly, without building the selectedcontent element.
  • Safe alignment now keeps a large open picker inside the viewport instead of letting it clip offscreen.
  • Default appearance: base-select styles center better, inherit text-overflow, and keep the picker icon visible without extra markup.

Grid Lanes: one rename, act this week

The flow-tolerance property became fit-tolerance after the CSS Working Group settled the name. The old spelling still works as a deprecated alias, and Safari's Web Inspector marks what needs changing. Update before the alias dies; renames are the cheapest debt to pay while the deprecation warning is still alive.

Refinement releases are the browser teams saying the foundation held. That is gacor news for small sites.
