Vercel announced that Daemons can call services in their deployment through service bindings. A binding names the target service and the environment variable that receives its URL.
What the binding changes
- The daemon calls the provided URL like another HTTP endpoint.
- Vercel handles internal routing, authentication, and TLS while the service remains private.
- Bindings are one-way: services cannot bind back to daemons, and a daemon continues calling the deployment that started it after a promotion or rollback.
This gives background processes a documented path to an application service without making that service public solely for internal communication.
Review the daemon and service-binding documentation for configuration requirements and lifecycle behavior before moving an existing integration.
