Announced September 22 for the October 2026 DevTools update: DevTools MCP server updates, ad-script tracking in the Ads section in Application, and full soft-navigation support in Performance. All three answer the same question with better eyes: what is this page actually doing?
Why each lands where it does
- DevTools MCP: coding agents can read DevTools state directly, so 'why is my page slow' became a question an agent can investigate, screenshots and all.
- Ads tracking in Application: ad scripts were the one category that hid from the network panel's shape; now they are a named, inspectable group.
- Soft navigation support in Performance: SPA navigations stopped being invisible to the performance panel, so a client-side route change measures like the page load it is.
Static-site takeaway: your pages measure cleanly in all three because they are three documents long and ship one script. If you are on an SPA, the last item is the gift: timing data that finally matches what users feel.
