A simple tracker can help you remember which roles you applied for and when to follow up. It does not need to become a database of private information about recruiters or employers.

Record only what helps you act

  • Save the role title, public job URL, date applied, current status, and next action.
  • Note the version of your resume or portfolio that you submitted.
  • Keep interview notes factual and relevant to your decision.

Protect the tracker

Avoid storing identity documents, bank details, private messages, or passwords in a spreadsheet. Restrict access if the file is synced or shared, and remove old records when you no longer need them.

Review the tracker once or twice a week, close roles that are no longer active, and set reminders only for actions you actually intend to take.
