About this workshop
TorNews is a small workshop zine about making websites. Eight short tutorials, fresh web-tech news, published in four editions: English, Bahasa Indonesia, Español and Français.
The tutorials are written to be finished in one sitting. The news is reported with its source on the record, because claims without sources are just vibes. Everything ships as plain static HTML, so it loads where networks are slow and search engines can read it on the first crawl.
Built with Next.js as a static export, deployed on Netlify. Photos are CC0 or public domain via Openverse, listed in CREDITS.md. Fonts are Gloock, Archivo and Courier Prime, all under the SIL Open Font License.
Machine translation keeps the other editions cheap and fast. If an edition reads oddly or a bug report would help the workshop, we mean that: email from the footer and we will fix it.
Editorial standards
- Numbers we print are measured, and named as measured.
- Every news claim links to its original source.
- Articles shorter than a bus ticket. That is a feature.
