Safari 27.1 shipped alongside the iPhone Duo on October 23. WebKit's own headline for the release notes: never before this long. A phone launch carrying this much browser work is the new normal, and the changes ride straight into the default browser of every Duo buyer.
What to check on your own pages
- Feature tests instead of version checks: 27.1 closes long-standing WebKit tickets, so UA-sniffing code now misreports for the first time in a while.
- The customizable select story continues: if you shipped the fallback path honestly, no change is needed; if you pinned a Safari version anywhere, delete it.
- Bug triage: bugs closed as 'fixed in a newer Safari' deserve a re-test on 27.1 before being declared not-our-problem.
Long release notes are the healthy sign: a browser shipping judged features, not a rewrite. That is gacor for small sites.
